Frequently Asked Questions =============================== Q: What if I want to just extract the files? A: Extracting the files is not necessary for most users. It is recommended that you select the automatic option for the installer. Follow the procedure below if you want to manually extract the files. 1. Start the Quantum3D Edition of the 3Dfx MiniGL Setup installer. 2. Select the "Extract all of the MiniGL files into one folder" option and click the Next button. 3. You will be prompted for a location for the MiniGL folder. The default location is the Desktop. 4. After you have specified a location, click the OK button. A 3Dfx MiniGL folder will be created with subdirectories for each of the supported games and the MiniGL file required for that game in the subdirectory. Copy the appropriate file into the specific directory location for the desired game. Q: What does the installer search for? A: The installer will search hard drives only for the game's EXE file and an older version of the MiniGL file. Q: Does the installer create back-up copies of previous MiniGL files? A: Yes by default. When you click the OK button to copy the MiniGL files after the installer has located the games, it will create a backup of previous MiniGL files. The first backup of this will be "Backup of ". Subsequent backups will be named "Backup (#) of " where the highest # is the most recent backup. Q: Are there any issues with the MiniGL 1.46 files? A: Quake: If you experience flickering in the overlay at the bottom of the screen, you will need to bring up the console and enter "gl_triplebuffer 1". This will enable triple buffering. In Quake, Quake2, Sin, and Hexen2, alt-tabbing out of the MiniGL with Raven will not clear the screen. You need to quit the game to get back to the Windows desktop. To date, you cannot do windowed rendering on Raven. They will always open full screen. This will be addressed with Raven when a full OpenGL ICD is released.
